Tutorial - How to alter the Tim Holtz Layered Butterfly, embossed Bigz diecut

Hello everybody :)

I've had a request for a tutorial showing how I did the butterfly on the cover of my Wallflower mini album :)

Here's a picture of the finished butterfly

And here's a picture of the card I made using this butterfly:)

Hope you find my tutorial helpful :)

Tutorial

You can have a look at my finished Wallflower mini album here :)

Suggested supplies for this project:

*First of all you'll need the Tim Holtz Bigz die with embossingfolder called Layered Butterfly, and an apropriate die cutting machine, I'm using my Sizzix Big Shot

*Then you'll need some black cardstock, I'm using Bazill, but use what you like. Even cereal box chipboard will do, just paint it black using acrylic paint or black gesso if it's not already black.

*Aluminum Foil Tape, it's optional, but it will keep let your diecut hold it's shape better if you want to bend it. You'll find this tape in hardware stores.

*Papertowel to rub off excess paint

*Some sort of metallic paint or spray/glimmer mists like Lindy's, tattered angels or the ones I use; Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain in Tarnished Brass (Gold) and antique bronze.

*Inka Gold or Rubnbuff or similar. I'm using Inka Gold in Lava Green and Browngold. Use the colors you want :)

* Black Distress Spray Stain or other black spray, dylusion or similar... but this is optional you could just use black acrylic paint.

*Black acrylic paint or paintdabber in black soot.

*Spoon charm for the body, I get mine from ebay, etsy or aliexpress sellers. A 10mm flatback pearl or other size you find suitable for your spoon, and some twine in your color choice.

*Gluegun or your preferred glue, and some metal glue like E6000 or glossy accents to glue the pearl onto the spoon charm.

Hope you found this tutorial helpful, have fun altering your Tim Holtz diecuts :)
thanks for watching,
have a wonderful day,
hugs and smiles,
Linda

  2. I tried to post a comment on Facebook but it only uses a Google id which I DON'T use. Anyway -
this is a wonderful tutorial. I really liked that you emphasized that, if you don't like how it looks, just keep adding layers and colors. I teach paper crafting and that is one of the toughest ideas to get across. Thanks for a great tutorial!
